Copenhagen International Airport, Kastrup (Danish: Københavns Lufthavn, Kastrup) is the main international airport in Denmark, serving the capital of Denmark; Copenhagen as well as southern Sweden. The airport is located just 5 miles/8 km south of Copenhagen City Center. The nearest alternative airport is Malmö Airport (MMX) in Sweden, located 37 miles/60 km from Copenhagen Airport. The capital city of Denmark is Copenhagen.

Copenhagen Airport is Denmark's largest airport and the largest airport in the Nordic countries. In 2018, the airport handled 30,256,703 passengers.

Copenhagen Airport carries the international airport code of CPH (IATA) and EKCH (ICAO). The airport sits in a slightly elevated position about 17 ft./5 meters above sea level at 55° 37′ 5″ N and 12° 39′ 22″ E.

Airport Access

Any travelers with disabilities or reduced mobility (PRM) can easily get special service at Copenhagen Airport. No matter which airline you are traveling with, you have the opportunity to use the service for travelers with a need for assistance. Central to the airport is the assistance center, which is the heart of the airport's handicap service. Furthermore, you will find six meeting points where you can contact Falck's PRM service for any necessary help. All passengers can find airport staff ready to assist you if you have reduced mobility. However, please make sure that you make a relevant request at least 48 hours prior to the departure of your flight.

All visitors that want to go to Copenhagen Airport by car will find easy access by road. Simply take the E20 motorway, which runs right by the airport. The E20 uses the toll road Oresund Bridge to Sweden.

Passengers have a nice selection of parking options to choose from at Copenhagen airport with more than 8,600 parking spaces. Here you will find everything from budget parking, short-term stay, and long-term stay parking to disabled parking.

Terminal Information

Copenhagen Airport operates three runways. One dual parallel runway system (04R/22L & 04L/22R) that points to the Oresund strait. The supplementary runway (30/12) is oriented perpendicular to the main runways and is 9,186 ft. / 2,800 meters long.

Copenhagen Airport serves two integrated terminals, which are Terminal 2, and Terminal 3. Terminal 2 is used for both domestic and international services. The check-in for the low-cost carriers and charter flights is located in this terminal.

Terminal 3 also processes both international and domestic departures of many airlines. Furthermore, this terminal hosts CPH Go low cost carriers such as Transavia, EasyJet, and Ryanair.

There are special airport buses within the airport area that depart every 15 minutes. The bus line connects both terminals as well as the parking lot areas. The transport is free of charge for all guests.

Airport Information

All passengers will find several ATM's throughout both terminals at Copenhagen Airport.

Car Rentals

Several of the major rental car companies provide car hire at Copenhagen International Airport, including Alamo, Avis, Budget, Europcar, Enterprise, Hertz, Thrifty, and SIXT. You will also find a few local car hire companies such as Flizzr, at the airport.

We highly advise that all travelers make their car hire reservations as soon as possible before arriving at Copenhagen Airport. This is due to the fact that there is only a small number of vehicles available for walk-up customers.

Transport

All travelers can enjoy comfortable and easy travel opportunities to and from the airport via trains, metro, buses, and taxis as well as car rental.

The airport's train station is located underneath Terminal 3 on the Oresund Railway Line. The station is served by trains operated by DSB, which is the Danish national rail operator and provides InterCity and InterCity Express trains. Furthermore, DSB Oresund provides trains, running as local services between Copenhagen city center and Helsingør. Finally, Swedish SJ runs several high-speed trains with daily departures between Copenhagen central station (København H) and Stockholm central station (Stockholm C) and Gothenburg (Göteborg). These trains all stop at the Copenhagen Airport station (København Lufthavn/Kastrup).

Furthermore, the metro station is located in the extension of Terminal 3. The Metro runs at 4–6-minute intervals during the day and evening hours and at 15–20-minute intervals at night. Passengers can get from the airport to the city center in approximately 15 minutes.

All passengers will find several bus lines to and from the center of Copenhagen from Copenhagen Airport. The bus company Movie offers buses that all stop at the airport including bus lines 5C, 35, 36 and Gråhundbus line 999. Furthermore, bus 888, express-bus to Jutland, also stops at the airport.

Taxis are available on the ground transportation area outside the main terminal at Copenhagen Airport. All taxis are metered, and reservations are not required.
